You and your partner have different religious beliefs. You accept each other but once you talk about your religion, it always turns into an argument. Of course, you want to resolve the issue but you just do not know how to. Actually, your problem is very simple. All you need to do is have some guts to communicate well, to accept his belief and to open your mind when he talks about his beliefs that do not agree with yours.

First, examine your beliefs quietly. Start a conversation about marriage vows and examine the difference between his religion an yours. Analyze difference and most of all similarities. Conclude that although you have two different beliefs, you have one goal and that is to have a peaceful life in marriage.

Open your mind to disagreements. Disagreements will always come mainly during issues about practices. When this comes, open your mind. Stop yourself from arguing back. Instead, take a deep breath and accept that not all religious practices are the same. Although they are different, the major goal is to show faith to the supreme.

Talk to him about how you feel when you have fights about religion. Be open to him but be calm. Tell him honestly that although you respect his religion, you want to stick to your belief because this is what shapes you. If he is indeed a good person, he will understand.

After the major talk, refrain from talking about this topic again. It is better to have an adult discussion about the topic then let it go and not keep complaining or nagging about it every day. Instead, talk about stuff that you do together like movies, you’re cooking or how much you love each other. What is essential in a relationship is the similarities and not the differences.
